Scholarship guide for parents
NMMS Scholarship Guide (Class 8)
NMMS (National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship) gives ₹12,000 per year from Class 9 to 12 to meritorious students from families with limited income. Most eligible parents in Jaipur have never heard of it.
Who is eligible?
- Student must be in Class 8 in a government / government-aided school (private-school students are not eligible)
- Minimum ~55% in Class 7 (50% for SC/ST)
- Parental income below the state’s limit (₹3.5 lakh/year in most states — verify Rajasthan’s current notification)
Exam pattern
- MAT (Mental Ability Test): 90 questions — reasoning, series, analogies
- SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test): 90 questions — Science, Social Science, Maths of Class 7–8
- 90 minutes per paper, conducted by the state (Rajasthan forms usually Sep–Oct, exam Nov–Dec)
Why it matters
₹48,000 total over four years, direct to the student’s bank account — enough to cover books, fees and coaching through senior school. And the MAT practice doubles as preparation for every other competitive exam. If your child is in Class 8 in a government school, this exam is a no-brainer.
